Herdade de Coelheiros, first documented in 1467, has produced since the ’90s some of the most classical and reference wines in the Alentejo region. The estate stretches over 800ha, with 50ha of vineyards, a 40ha walnut orchard, and a vast area of cork forest, where sheep and deer graze freely.
The vineyards are divided into seven plots, currently being converted to organic farming at an average altitude of 300m.
Our climate provides us the perfect compromise between the freshness of the upper Alentejo and the dry summers of the lower Alentejo. We aim to become a model of sustainability and resilience in Alentejo while our wines personify a fresh, elegant, fine Alentejo. Since 2016, the viticulture and enology team are being led by Luís Patrão.
